The African continent as seen from space with international borders and a 15° latitude and longitude grid, in Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area projection. It shows land cover in brilliant color and in unparalleled detail as it appears in the month of August (Winter in the southern hemisphere).

This satellite image map is the most accurate and up to date such map available today. The land imagery is based on data collected by NASA's MODIS satellite instrumentation in August 2004.

Literally thousands of varied physical features can be seen on this view of the continent. Consider the contrast between the golden colored Sahara desert, the green equatorial rainforests and the dark southern deserts. The variety of features such as the snow tipped Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and the Okavango delta and the Makgadikgadi Pan (dried lake) in the Kalahari desert in Botswana is typical.

This wall map is printed on 24lb. premium coated bond paper. It is also laminated on both sides using 3mm hot lamination, which protects your wall map and allows you to write on it with dry-erase markers.
